LS Tractor Financing: What Zero Percent Actually Means
Zero percent financing on a tractor sounds too good to be true. Here is how it works, which LS models qualify, and when it actually makes sense to use it.
A lot of buyers walk in having already decided they will pay cash. Then they hear "zero percent for 120 months" and the math gets interesting fast.
Zero percent financing on a tractor is real. It is not a gimmick. But there are things worth understanding before you sign, and a few situations where it makes more sense than others.

Where the zero percent comes from
The dealer does not absorb the interest. LS Tractor's financing arm buys down the rate on behalf of the manufacturer as a sales incentive. From your side of the desk, the math is simple: you borrow the purchase price, split it evenly across the term, and pay no interest. Every dollar of your payment reduces the principal.
The catch, such as it is: "select models" means what it says. The promotional rate applies to specific trim levels and configurations, not every tractor on the lot. When you see a rate tied to a series, confirm which model numbers carry it before you get too attached to the math.
What the current terms look like
LS runs different programs on different series. Here is what we carry at Dykes Motors:
The MT1 sub-compact series (21.5 to 24.7 HP) is currently showing 0% for 120 months on select models. That is ten years with no interest. For a machine at that price point, the monthly payment is modest, and you end up owning the tractor well before it wears out.
The MT3 compact series (42 to 57 HP) runs 0% for 96 months. Eight years, no interest, for a tractor with a hitch lift between 2,755 and 2,910 lbs and loader capacity to match. The MT3 is where buyers who want a cab, a bigger loader, and room to grow tend to land.
The MT4 utility series (58 to 73 HP) offers a choice: 0% for 60 months, or $6,000 cash back. That is a real decision with real math behind it. Run both scenarios against your situation. If you are financing a significant portion of the purchase, the rate savings from 0% often outweigh the cash incentive. If you are putting a large amount down, the cash back can close that gap quickly.
The MT2E compact series (24.4 to 42.5 HP) carries 2.99% financing for 120 months on select models, not zero percent, but still a manufacturer-subsidized rate well below what a bank or equipment floor plan typically offers on used equipment.
When zero percent financing makes sense
The argument for zero percent is not complicated. If you can earn more than zero percent on your cash somewhere else, keeping it liquid and letting the manufacturer carry the balance is a rational move. A lot of buyers who could write a check choose not to because the money earns more sitting in a CD or a farm account than it costs them on a zero-percent loan.
It also makes sense for buyers who want to spread out a large purchase without taking on a variable rate. The terms are fixed. There is no balloon. No rate adjustment. You know the payment on day one.
Who should think twice
If the promotional rate only applies to a model you do not actually want, it is not a deal. Do not let a financing term push you into the wrong tractor.
Zero percent also requires credit approval through the manufacturer's financing program. The program is straightforward, but qualified buyers is not the same as all buyers.
And if the cash-back option is available, do the math both ways. On the MT4, $6,000 back is real money. The right answer depends on how much you are financing and what else you might do with the cash.
